Despite the popular ‘girl math’ trend of 2023, Revolut’s latest data proves that women are not only savvy spenders but also superior investors. Good riddance, girl math: Revolut data shows women out-investing men, earning 4% higher returns on average than their male counterparts in 2024. Furthermore, women opened 31% more trading accounts last year, challenging outdated stereotypes about financial literacy.

Women have historically been underestimated in the investment landscape, often perceived as less confident traders. However, Revolut’s data paints a different picture—one of women taking control of their financial futures and outperforming men in the process. In 2024, female investors aged 45-54 saw the highest returns, earning 1.2% more profit than men in the same age group. Millennial women (25-34) and those aged 55-64 also demonstrated strong performance, securing 0.9% and 0.7% higher profits, respectively.

Young women (18-24) have been particularly active in the investment space. While their profits lagged by 1% compared to men of the same age, their enthusiasm for investing is undeniable. The number of investment accounts opened by women in this group surged by 32% from the previous year, highlighting a growing interest in financial independence among Gen-Z women.

Yana Shkrebenkova, CEO of Wealth and Trading at Revolut UK, commented on the shift: “It’s refreshing but not unexpected to see women finally out-investing men. Gen-Z women are becoming increasingly active in the space, upskilling, and closing the investment gap—perhaps due to better access to online resources. Women tend to be more risk-averse and deliberate in their investment choices, which sets them up for long-term success.”

Revolut’s trading platform, which launched in 2019, now boasts over 650,000 UK customers. The number of monthly active traders increased by 150% in 2024, with overall trading activity surging by 200%. Women are playing a significant role in this growth, with their investment confidence steadily rising.

As the financial landscape evolves, Revolut anticipates that the gender investment gap will continue to narrow. With better tools, resources, and support, women are securing their place at the forefront of wealth creation—proving once and for all that investing isn’t just a man’s game.
